1. Prep Like a Pro
Smooth surfaces are everything. Begin by sanding your panelling (wood, MDF, or plywood) until it's beautifully even. Wipe away all dust and debris. If you're working with plywood, treat any knots and fill holes using Wood Filler before you start.
2. Seal the Gaps
Use an all-purpose caulk to seal joins between panels and walls. This step gives you a crisp, clean edge and helps prevent paint bleed or cracking over time. We recommend our reliable Caulk.
3. Prime for Perfection
Priming enhances paint adhesion and ensures even coverage. For timber or MDF panels, a water-based acrylic primer like our Acrylic Primer Undercoat is ideal. Be sure to check compatibility between primer and panel materials—and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for best results.
4. Apply the Topcoat
Now for the fun part! Choose your final paint—higher sheen levels generally equal better durability. Going matte? No problem. Our Durable Matt Finish gives you a stylish and robust look.
5. Optional Rocktop Finish
Want extra resilience? Add a protective top layer with Smith & Rodger Rocktop. Available in Dead Flat, Satin, and Gloss, it adds durability while keeping your chosen finish looking fresh.
